Challenge

A major network and cloud ecosystem required a strategically located interconnection facility capable of supporting critical fiber traffic across North America. The site needed to provide high reliability, scalable power infrastructure, and resilient connectivity while maintaining the flexibility required for colocation and network exchange environments.

The project demanded a facility capable of supporting regional edge workloads, carrier interconnection, and high-availability infrastructure, all while meeting strict uptime and redundancy requirements.

Solution

The facility was designed and built as a Tier III concurrently maintainable infrastructure platform, ensuring maintenance can be performed without interrupting operations.

The electrical architecture supports a 6 MW IT load capacity and is built around A/B redundant power distribution, ensuring resilient delivery of power to all cabinets.

Power Infrastructure

  • Dual utility feeds from the local power grid

  • Switchgear → UPS → PDU/RPP → cabinet distribution

  • A/B redundant UPS systems

  • Diesel generator plant with on-site fuel storage

  • Automatic transfer switching for seamless backup activation

Key infrastructure components include:

Together, these systems support a high-availability environment designed for continuous operation and operational flexibility.

Cooling Infrastructure

  • CRAC / CRAH cooling systems

  • N+1 cooling redundancy

  • Hot aisle / cold aisle containment

  • Optimized airflow management for efficient thermal performance

Interconnection Role

The facility functions as a critical fiber interconnection node within the North American network backbone.

Strategically positioned along a mid-continent fiber corridor, the site helps route traffic between major markets, including connectivity paths linking New York to Seattle via Canada.

The carrier-neutral ecosystem enables:

  • Direct cross-connects between network providers

  • Low-latency connectivity for cloud platforms

  • Support for CDN and edge computing workloads

  • Scalable network interconnection for enterprise and telecom customers

Outcome

The completed facility delivers a high-performance digital infrastructure platform built to support long-term network growth and reliability.

Through a disciplined methodology, the project was delivered as a fully hardened infrastructure asset ready for immediate activation by operators and network providers.

The result is a durable, scalable interconnection hub that strengthens regional connectivity while supporting the evolving demands of cloud, content delivery, and telecom infrastructure.
